When learning letters becomes actually fun 🎉

Hands On As We Grow®

Reader-

Planning enough activities to keep an active preschooler (or toddler) busy -- can get daunting and overwhelming to keep up...

... and can end up being not-so-much-fun anymore...

“It wasn’t that fun because I was trying to control it too much.”

Do you ever feel that way?

That's actually a quote from Liz R, a member of The Activity Room -- ROOM has allowed her to let go of that control a little bit and let the activity go where it naturally needs to go.

I felt like I was all over the place,” explains Liz. “Being a new parent, you don’t have anything to draw from, as far as past experience. I felt like I needed something more tangible.”

Liz shared her latest favorite activity to do with her son, Kade -- Disappearing Letters.

It's such a simple activity, but using a squirt bottle for kids is the Best. Thing. Ever.

... and BONUS, they're learning!

Check it out!

So I thought I'd share a few of my other favorite letter learning activities that are irresistible for kids and have that fun learning twist in them!

If you're ever looking for more inspiration to learn letters, we've got a boatload here:

“The biggest reason for doing activities with Kade is to connect with him in a creative way,” Liz shares. “It’s fun for me, too!”

I just want to end by saying try to enjoy the time doing the activities and stress less about how it should be, or how other parents are doing it. The point is to make those memories, so be IN the moment and make some :)

Engaging our kids with simple, fun activities, every day.

Just getting your emails is a HUGE inspiration and encouragement that I CAN spend a whole afternoon with my kids without going nuts, and with it being a really fun and fulfilling experience for everyone. I CAN be that fun mom I always dreamt of being. And it’s thanks to you. It’s an even bigger bonus to have these super simple activities because it means that even organizationally-challenged mom like myself can do these- there’s not too much to prepare. And my hyperactive daughter can switch from one activity to the next and I don’t mind because I didn’t spend that much time or resources preparing each one. THANKS A MILLION." - Leah, The Activity Room member

Reader! This amazing post by That's Inappropriate that has stuck with me over the years... Go ahead, go read it... but then come back to hear my take on it. ... ... ... Here's my take on it... let me know what you thought when you read it. At first when I read it, I was so inspired by it. To get out there and play WITH my kids. To be a part of their lives. To be the fun, silly mom. To do all the things. It has great intentions, of course. But as I was lying in bed that night, that post...
